Theme SOTD: Non "H"!

So the scarfies on tPF are still running themed Fridays. This last Friday was "Your Favorite Non-H Scarf". I started buying pretty vintage scarves when I joined tPF. I really loved all the "H" designs but, wanted to make sure I would WEAR a scarf before kicking in the moola for "H". So, off I went to the vintage shops to see what goodies I could unearth!

Here are my favorites (so far!) from my 'collection':

SOTD: Met Tiffany Design

Mors scarf ring in action

Mors Scarf Ring with a pocket square I picked up at the Met's gift shop. It's a Tiffany Window design. I really love the colors in this scarf.

Mors scarf ring from "H".

This new Scarf ring has gotten a great deal of buzz on The Purse Blog from all the scarfies. Several members have posted drool-worthy pics of themselves sporting the snaffle-based scarf ring. I FINALLY gave in to the loveliness and picked up one for myself. Here's my 1st attempt to play with it:

I'm rocking the Pocket Square I picked up from NYC at the Metropolitan Museum. It's based on a L.C. Tiffany design.

In Navy and White. I believe this one is the re-issue from about 10 years ago (?!). Wearing it with "Horses of Hungary", and "Ponts de Paris" bangles. "H" scarf ring in Palladium.

THEME SOTD: Geometry

The Scarfies on the Purse Blog have a running "Theme Day" on Fridays and as today is Friday, here's my contribution:

SOTD: Geometry

This is from one of the vintage shops I frequent. It's a brown checked scarf by Paoli. I'm not positive but, I've read that Paoli was (is?) a Japanese company that specialized in Geometric designs...don't quote me on that tho!

From the Archive: Anatomy of a Reveal

I've been posting on The Purse Forum (The Purse Blog) for awhile now and I love it! I snapped pics of yummy things I've brought home and then shared them with other tPFers. Here is one of the earliest pieces I "Revealed". I thought it might be fun to see the whole process: The box, the opening of the box, the peek, and finally - the Reveal.

Playtime With My Scarf

Goofing around with a vintage silk scarf I found at one of the awesome vintage shops in my area (there are THREE! I am so frickin' lucky!). This one isn't an "name" scarf. It's just a pretty piece of silk that I picked up. I like the colors in it.

On this day, I couldn't decide what knot to tie it in, so I messed with it for a bit:

simple drape

That one was unsuccessful, in my opinion, so I tried a "puffy" knot. Just doubled a knot and puffed it up a bit:

MaiTai double knot

Yeah, I REALLY didn't like that one (my face says it all!). This one was a little better:

Knotted twist

Here's the one I settled on:

Goyard Coin Purse

Goyard box

Goyard - coin satchel

I picked this up awhile ago and I'm still not sure how much I love it. The concept is very nice and the fact that it's based on pouches that used to be worn on belts, is admirable. In practice, however, the purse not very useful. The ties keep coming undone which allows the coins to slip out of it. I've jury-rigged a complex knot to keep it closed--which makes is challenging to open. Sigh.

It's still adorable!

Scarf Theme Day #2: Horse

This one just this last Friday (Hey, I'm almost caught up!). This was a Horse theme. Didn't have to be "H" but, I luckily had just the one!

Do-over SOTD

Couverures et Tenues by Jacque Eidel 1974. This little beauty is the same age as I am!

Scarf Theme Day #1

Our first "Theme" day was all about "India". It was suggested by The Scarfologist on The Purse Blog.

Here was my submission:

Une Fil Indienne

Une Fil Indienne in Black with silver and gold Hermes A/W 2008. Really loved this scarf.
Not the best pic, mind you. It was snagged from my phone in REALLY harsh light.

EDIT:

Here's the ACTUAL SOTD pic - the above was taken the day I purchased the scarf. I couldn't find the "real" pic!

My first "H" silk was a Pochette (or Gavroche, or Pocket Square). I've never really worn that 1st piece. I just had to have it for the great pictures. The first silk I snagged to WEAR was a Twilly. These silk "ribbons" are wonderful! I use them all the time!

This is a much older series of pics. I originally posted them on target=_"blank">The Purse Blog for a "Princess B" thread. I really enjoyed taking the pics and so, thought I'd post the whole series here:
